My name is Joseph Luellen; I am a Point of Light and a Beacon of Hope.

If you look at my life you can see two stories. The bad that I have done and the mistakes that I have made; or the good that I have done, and the lessons I have learned. I used to be on the other side of life, where everything is a scandal or conspiracy waiting to be uncovered. These negative thoughts and negative attitudes left me feeling empty. As I volunteered and coached and trained to look at the positive side of life, I learned to pay things forward. I started the Beacon of Hope challenge to pay forward good news into people’s lives and to encourage others to do the same. This challenge yielded real life results in people around the world that I had never met. The Point of Light Network was created by people who took this challenge of hope. The Point of Light Network is a commitment to make the world better than the way we found it. I am honored by the fact that I was there from the start when this collective of people came to life. It has reinforced a major lesson that I have learned: Our actions can make a difference. We can change the world. We just have to let the light inside of each of us shine for all to see.

My name is Frank Briggs; I am a Point of Light and a Beacon of Hope.

As a youngster and young adult, I endured countless barrages of criticism, but always tried to find the good in things and people. I have always had a passion for how I can boost someone else up even when I sometimes get left behind. I never fully understood that until I read a quote from Bill Gates: “The true measure of your life is not how well you live, but how well others live because of you.” In our lives we endure many hardships, heartaches and setbacks. I know, I have been there, but I have never given up. I firmly believe that, given the right chance, we can all break the chains of hardship and find the true light at the end of the tunnel. I now know that I have been chosen to share this inspiration with the world. It is very simple: One candle flickers, two candles illuminate, three candles glow, but a million candles shine. Being a member of the Point of Light Network will allow me the chance to light those candles and illuminate the world.

My name is Dominique Edmond; I am a Point of Light and a Beacon of Hope.

In 2001, I found myself contemplating suicide. Life had been pretty good until then, but for the first time in my life, I felt hopeless. I believed that ending my life would solve my problems. I could not have been any more wrong. It was in that moment that I had an amazing experience that would change my life forever! I began pursuing my purpose in life. I wanted to live again! And not just live, but live life on purpose – live life to its fullest potential. It wasn’t until 2008 that I would discover my purpose in life – to empower, inspire, and motivate others through the power of words to live their lives to the fullest. That’s right! From my own pain came my purpose and message. I’ve been blessed to face many challenges in life along the way and with each challenge that I overcome, I learn and grow. Then I take what I have learned and share it with others to be a light to them, empowering them to be victorious in every area of their lives. I’m changing the world around me every day and I’m encouraging others to join me and do the same!
